United Nations Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, expressed support for Turkey’s on-going diplomatic efforts in relation to the war in Ukraine.
UN Chief who met the President in Ankara, Turkey on Monday, both reaffirmed that their common objective is to end to the war as soon as possible and to create conditions to end the suffering of civilians.
They stressed the urgent need for effective access through humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians and deliver much needed assistance to impacted communities.
The President and the Secretary-General agreed to stay in contact to follow up on ongoing initiatives, also discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine on regional and global issues, including energy, food and finance.
The UN Chief who announced to meet with Russian President, Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this week to see an end to this devastating war.
According to him, "Next week, I will meet with President Vladimir Putin in Russia and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ukraine. We need urgent steps to save lives, end the human suffering and bring about peace in Ukraine".
Meanwhile the latest report has it that Russian forces have made only "minor advances" in eastern Ukraine, but authorities in the country's south-central region have warned Moscow may be planning a new offensive there.
Report also gathered that Russian forces have struck five railway stations in central and western Ukraine, according to Ukraine's state railway company.
