World leaders have celebrated with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron over his re-election, after defeating his opponent, leader of the National Rally Party, Marine Le Pen with 58.2 per cent of the overall vote.
United States President, Joe Biden who went on Twitter to congratulate Macron on his re-election. "France is our oldest ally and a key partner in addressing global challenges. I look forward to our continued close cooperation including on supporting Ukraine, defending democracy, and countering climate change".
Also, US Vice President, Kamala Harris tweeted, "Congratulations President Emmanuel Macron on your historic re-election. When I was in Paris, we discussed long-standing alliance and our shared interests all around the world. The U.S. looks forward to continuing to deepen this valuable relationship with France".
United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson also congratulated Macron on his re-election, adding that France is one of UK closest and most important allies. "I look forward to continuing to work together on the issues which matter most to our two countries and to the world".
India's Narendra Modi said on tweets: "Congratulations to my friend, Macron on being re-elected as the President of France! I look forward to continue working together to deepen the India-France Strategic Partnership".
Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau issued the following statement on the result of France’s presidential election: “On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate President Emmanuel Macron on his re-election.
“Canada and France are close friends, allies, and partners. Our relationship is rooted in centuries of shared history. We cooperate closely in international forums, including the United Nations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the G7, and the G20.
"United by a common language, we are also key partners within the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. We share progressive trade and commercial relationship which helps to create jobs and opportunities for people on both sides of the Atlantic.
“I look forward to continuing to work with President Macron on the issues that matter most to people in Canada and France. This includes upholding democracy, human rights, and the rules-based international system in the face of Russia’s illegal, unprovoked, and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine.

Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed tweets: "Congratulations to my good friend President Emmanuel Macron on your successful and historical reelection. I look forward to the continued strengthened relations between our two countries".
Tanzania's President, Samiu Suluhu
congratulated Emmanuel Macron and his Party on re-election victory. "I wish to assure continued support and Tanzania looks forward to working more closely with the people of France to deepen our economic and social ties. Félicitations".
World Health Organisation (WHO) Director General, Tedro Ghebreyesus said "Félicitations, my friend Macron, on your re-election as President of France. I look forward to continuing the important partnership between France and WHO for a healthier, safer, fairer world".
