United States of America celebrates its Independence Day on every 4th of July as dozens of families went for parade at Highland Park in the state of Illinois on Monday for the nation's freedoms anniversary, but left with their lives forever changed, after a shooter killed six people and wounded dozens more.
According to City's Police, the suspected shooter, who is still at large, has been described as a white male aged 18-20 with longer black hair, rifles recovered at the scene, confirmed six deaths and stated that two dozen of wounded people have been transported to Highland Park Hospital.
Meanwhile, Americans have been devastating at this horrible news, the President, Joe Biden said he and his wife, Jill were shocked, describing the incident as senseless gun violence which has yet brought grief to the country, the community on this Independence Day.
"As always, we are grateful for first responders and law enforcement on the scene. I will not give up fighting the epidemic of gun violence", Biden added.
The Vice President, Kamala Harris on her side and her husband Doug prayed for the dozens of people who have been hospitalized and those who were lost in Highland Park, Illinois, saying that this shooting is an unmistakable reminder that more should be done to address gun violence in America.
Also, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi reacting to the incident, she said Americans’ hearts are broken by the senseless gun violence in Highland Park when innocent families were celebrating all-American holiday.
Pelosi prayed for all those who have lost loved ones and for the entire community forever scarred by this shooting. "As we mark Independence Day today, let us renew our vow to never relent until all our children can live free from the fear of gun violence", she added.
Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has expressed condolences to American President, American people over the horrible news, saying his heart breaks for the people of Highland Park, Illinois, who wanted nothing more than to celebrate their country but instead had their lives change forever.
To the injured, and to the loved ones of the victims: Canadians are keeping you in our thoughts", Justin Trudeau said.
