Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on his victory in the Osun gubernatorial election.
The President who made this known on social media platform on Sunday, expressed his satisfaction over the just concluded Governorship election, saying the people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot.
According to him, "This is what democracy is all about: respect for the will of the people.
"The successful conduct of #OsunDecides2022 is a demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders, towards strengthening the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria", the President said.
President Buhari reiterated that he remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Sunday declared PDP Gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the just concluded 2022 Governorship election in the State of Osun.
The declaration was made after PDP candidate defeated the incumbent Governor and All Progressive Congress candidate, Adegboyega Oyetola who is about to complete his first term with 403,371 votes to 375, 027 votes.
PDP's Adeleke obtained the highest number of votes in 17 of the 30 Local Governments in Osun State, while his closest rival, Governor Oyetola of All Progressives Congress won in 13 Local Government Areas.
However, the Local Governments won by APC are Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Ife South, Ife Central and Ife East.
The PDP won Ede North Local Government, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun and Ejigbo.
