War: 50,000 Ukrainians have arrived UK safely - Boris Johnson

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has revealed that 50,000 Ukrainian people fleeing the Russian war in Ukraine have arrived in United Kingdom safely.


Johnson who disclosed this on his official social media platform on Thursday, reaffirmed British solidarity with the Ukrainian people and to the President Zelensky, particularly for the brave defenders of Mariupol.


While giving the Ukraine's President updates on support flowing to Ukraine’s defence, including long-range artillery, shore-to-ship missiles and unmanned drones which is part of the British additional £1.3 billion military aid package.


Boris Johnson said they both discussed how both countries can stem the global economic damage caused by Russian President Putin's reckless blockade of Black Sea ports.


"We're looking urgently at options to open up critical sea and land supply routes for Ukrainian grain stocks", British Prime Minister said.


He revealed that the British Government is doing everything possible to help the 50,000 Ukrainians who arrived UK safely to build their lives in the country.


"With over 100,000 visas issued through our schemes and fresh sanctions imposed on Russian airlines today, our resolve is unflinching, we stand with Ukraine", Boris Johnson added.


Latest report has it that top economic officials from the world’s advanced economies moved closer toward agreement on a global rescue package for Ukraine on Thursday.


While world finance leaders negotiating the details of a multibillion dollar plan to keep the Ukrainian government operating amid Russia’s onslaught.


Finance ministers of the Group of 7 nations expressed optimism about the emergency financing deal on the first day of a two-day summit, where they are focused on how to provide aid to Ukraine.


And exert pressure on Russia while avoiding economic blowback that will slow the global economy, consumed with how to contain rising food and energy prices that have some economists worrying about a global recession.
