UN condemns Kabul's attack as 19 lives lost in Afghanistan

United Nations has condemned the Friday's attack at Kabul International Cricket Stadium in Afghanistan, which claimed the lives of at least 19 civilians and caused additional casualties.


UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres made the condemnation in a statement released by the Deputy Spokesman for the UN Chief, Farhan Haq on Friday.



He reiterated that attacks against civilians and civilian objects are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law, while consoled families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured.


It was reported that a suicide bomber blew himself up in the stands of a stadium in Afghanistan, killing at least 19 people as a result of the explosion.


The tragedy occurred at a T20 cricket match held at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium on Friday afternoon, and the blast occurred around 4:30 p.m.


Local authorities indicate that four people were injured in the explosion and that no one was killed, however, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Guterres, stated in his tweet that at least 19 civilians died in the terrorist attack.
