United States Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has devastated over the Sunday morning, 3th of April, 2022 mass shooting at Sacramento community in California.
In a statement issued by the Speaker who joined Californians and all Americans in horror and anguish over the unfortunate incident, said:
"Our hearts are with the victims of this brutal violence and with their families, and we are grateful for the heroism of our first responders", she said.
Pelosi lamented that many families and communities across the nation have been shattered by the epidemic of gun violence plaguing the nation, which steals more than 100 beautiful souls each day.
"Moved by the tireless activism of survivors and advocates, House Democrats have passed the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and the Enhanced Background Checks Act:
"Commonsense and urgent action that will help end the bloodshed. Democrats will not relent until we enshrine this life-saving legislation into law, because inaction is not an option", she added.
Pelosi who is a Californian, said she is personally devastated by this horrific shooting.
"May it be a comfort to the loved ones of those murdered and the Sacramento community that so many in our State and across the nation mourn their loss and pray for them during this sad time.”
According to report, an urgent search is underway for multiple suspects after a shooting in downtown Sacramento, California, left six people dead and 12 others injured early Sunday morning.
"Investigators are working to identify those responsible for this horrific act. We know that a large fight took place just prior to the shootings.
"And we have confirmed that there are multiple shooters," Sacramento Police Chief Katherine Lester said Sunday afternoon.
Three men and three women were killed, Lester said, and the injured were rushed to area hospitals. The coroner's office is working to identify and notify families of the victims, she said.
Investigators were interviewing a number of witnesses and located hundreds of pieces of evidence from the scene, including a stolen handgun, Lester said.
