Osinbajo on excellent path of recovery, says Duchess Hospital

Duchess International Hospital, Lagos where Nigerian Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is being admitted, carried out his surgical procedure, said the VP is on the path of excellent recovery.


This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of the International Hospital, Dr Tokunbo Shitta-Bey on Sunday, while together with all Nigerians wished the VP a smooth and speedy recovery.



The Hospital, Duchess International is honoured to have been chosen to provide His Excellency, Osinbajo's surgical treatment. "We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and for VP's extraordinary confidence in our healthcare system in Nigeria".


Osinbajo, was admitted on Saturday to Duchess International Hospital, Lagos, on account of a fracture of his right femur (thigh bone), possibly related to a longstanding injury associated with a game of squash.


Had a successful surgical operation performed by a team of specialist doctors, which includes Dr. Wallace Ogufere (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Om Lahoti (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon).


Also, Dr. Babajide Lawson (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Ken Adegoke (Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care); Dr. Oladimeji Agbabiaka (Consultant Anaesthetist); and Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi (Consultant Physician & Medical Director).


The Vice President, Osinbajo is expected to be discharged within the next few days, according to earlier statement released by the Duchess Hospital.


Meanwhile, concerned Nigerians and the President, Muhammadu Buhari have wished the Vice President speedy and full recovery.


The President, in a statement released by his aide, commended the medical team at the Hospital, for “their competence, and a job well done", and assured Osinbajo of the prayers of Nigerians, and that of his family.
