Kenya, S'Leone signs 7 agreements after bilateral talks in Nairobi

Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta and his visiting Sierra Leonean counterpart, President Julius Maada Bio on Monday, 30th May 2022 at the State House, Nairobi led respective delegations in bilateral talks after which, seven agreements were signed.


These agreements includes: Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Commission for Cooperation; Memorandum of Understanding on Political and Diplomatic Consultations.


Memorandum of Understanding on Trade and Investment; Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Wildlife Tourism; Memorandum of Understanding on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.


Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Culture and Arts; and, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Youth Affairs.


Kenyatta was accompanied to the talks by Cabinet Secretaries Dr Fred Matiang'i (Interior), Amb Raychelle Omamo (Foreign Affairs), Amb Amina Mohamed (Sports), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Prof Margaret Kobia (Public Service), and Betty Maina (Trade).


Earlier, President Kenyatta and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta have received visiting President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio and his spouse Mrs Fatima Maada Bio at State House, Nairobi.


The elaborate State Reception ceremony included a Guard of Honour mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Air Force and a 21-Gun Salute.


S'Leonean President, Julius Maada Bio is in Kenya on a State Visit during which he will be the Chief Guest at this year's Madaraka Day national celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.
